How does the meme generator work?
The tool uses the HTML5 Canvas API to overlay text on your image using the classic meme format — bold Impact font, white text with black outline. Everything runs in your browser. No data is sent to any server.
Can I use my own images?
Yes. Upload any JPEG, PNG, or WebP image, or paste an image URL. You can also start with one of the built-in solid color backgrounds if you just want to play with text.
What text style options are available?
You can adjust font size, stroke (outline) thickness, text color, stroke color, and toggle uppercase on or off. The default style is the classic meme look: white Impact font with black outline, all caps.
Can I add text to the middle of the image?
Yes. There are three text fields — top, middle, and bottom. Use any combination. Middle text is centered vertically on the image.
What output formats are supported?
You can export as PNG (lossless, best quality) or JPEG (smaller file size with adjustable quality). Choose the format that fits your use case.
Is there a file size or resolution limit?
There is no hard limit since processing happens entirely in your browser. Very large images (50MP+) may be slower on older devices.
Is my image data private?
Image rendering happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Images are not uploaded to our servers during editing.
Can I make memes on my phone?
Yes. All controls work with touch input on iOS and Android browsers. Upload from your camera roll, type your text, and download — all without installing an app. The live preview updates as you type.
Does the tool add a watermark to my memes?
No. Your memes are completely watermark-free. The output is exactly what you see in the preview — your image with your text, nothing else added.
How does this compare to Imgflip or Kapwing?
Imgflip and Kapwing use different hosted workflows and free-tier rules. This generator runs in your browser, keeps image files off our servers during editing, and exports without adding a watermark.
Can I use custom fonts?
The tool includes Impact (classic meme font), Arial, Comic Sans, and Georgia. These cover most meme styles. Custom web font support may be added in the future.
Can I edit the meme after downloading?
The downloaded file is a flat image — text is baked in. To make changes, adjust your text in the tool and download again. For more complex edits like cropping, use our <a href="/crop-image">Image Cropper</a> on the downloaded file.
Can I add a watermark to protect my meme?
