Questions

What people ask before they use this tool.

How does the image flip tool work?
The tool uses the HTML5 Canvas API to mirror or rotate your image. Flip Horizontal reverses left-to-right, Flip Vertical reverses top-to-bottom, and Rotate spins by 90-degree increments or any custom angle you enter. Image processing runs in your browser, and files are not uploaded to our servers during processing.
Can I combine multiple operations?
Yes. All operations stack on top of each other and are displayed as a transformation chain (e.g. "Flip H → Rotate 90° CW → Rotate 45°"). You can undo/redo individual steps at any time, or hit Reset to go back to the original.
Can I rotate by a custom angle?
Yes. Use the angle input or slider to set any value from 0 to 360 degrees, then click Apply to add the rotation to your transformation stack. You can combine custom rotations with flips.
What output formats are supported?
You can export as PNG (lossless), JPEG, or WebP. For JPEG and WebP, a quality slider lets you balance file size and image quality from 10% to 100%.
How does the before/after comparison work?
After applying any transformation, the right panel shows your original and transformed images side by side so you can instantly see the difference.
Is there a file size or resolution limit?
There is no hard limit since processing happens entirely in your browser. Very large images (50MP+) may be slower on older devices. Use the zoom controls to navigate large images comfortably.
Is my image data private?
Flipping and rotating happen in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are not uploaded to our servers during processing.
Does flipping or rotating reduce image quality?
90-degree rotations and flips are lossless — they just rearrange pixels. Custom angle rotations may slightly soften edges due to interpolation. Export as PNG to avoid additional compression artifacts.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes. All buttons and the custom angle slider work with touch input. The zoom controls help you inspect results on smaller screens. Keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+Z for undo) work on desktop browsers.
How does this compare to the Photos app on my phone?
Phone photo apps usually cover basic rotation, while this tool also supports custom angles, stackable operations, full undo/redo history, and export to PNG, JPEG, or WebP. It is a better fit when you want more direct control from a browser workflow.
Can I flip and then crop the result?
Yes. Download the flipped image, then open it in our Image Cropper to crop to your desired area. You can also resize or compress the result afterward.
What does "Crop to original size" do for custom rotations?
When you rotate by a non-90-degree angle, the canvas normally grows to fit the rotated image. "Crop to original size" keeps the canvas at the original dimensions and clips the rotated edges, which is useful when you want to straighten a slightly tilted photo.
Is there a limit on how many operations I can stack?
You can stack up to 20 operations (flips, rotations, custom angles). Beyond that, the oldest operations are dropped from the undo history. This keeps memory usage reasonable in the browser.
